Dreaming Up a Greener Future: The NBF Joins CAFA

London, UK - August 15, 2025 - Climate Action for Associations (CAFA) is excited to welcome the National Bed Federation (NBF), who are the UK’s leading trade association for the bed and mattress industry, representing around 70% of all UK manufacturers by volume. Its membership includes a broad range of companies, from large-scale producers with significant resources to smaller businesses with limited capacity. NBF plays a pivotal role in supporting its members to future-proof their operations, improve compliance, and drive innovation in circularity.

Why this partnership matters

The NBF’s sustainability work is centred on helping its members reduce the environmental impact of the UK bed and mattress industry. Mattress manufacturing is energy and resource intensive, with emissions arising from raw material production (such as foams, textiles, and metals), manufacturing processes, transport, and, most critically, end-of-life disposal. The sector faces particular challenges around circularity, given the complexity of separating different materials for recycling. To address this, NBF is working closely with members and suppliers to explore solutions. By supporting both large and small businesses, NBF is enabling the industry to transition to more sustainable, lower-emission models that reduce waste, conserve resources, and future-proof operations against evolving regulation.
