In Control of Climate Action: CaSA Joins the CAFA Collective

ree

London, UK - July 25, 2025 - Climate Action for Associations (CAFA) is delighted to welcome The Controls & Skills Authority (CaSA) as a new member of the Collective. The Controls & Skills Authority is the professional home for all project controls disciplines, including risk, value, costing, planning and other disciplines that fit under project controls. Representing a community of 3,000 members (including companies and individuals), they elevate the profession’s standards, influence industries, and ensure the profession is visible. They champion diversity, continuous learning, and community engagement to inspire excellence in cost, planning, risk, and estimating across the vibrant Project Controls landscape.

Why this partnership matters

Project controls professionals play a pivotal role in overseeing how projects are delivered - especially around cost, schedule, risk, and quality. Those disciplines directly influence project outcomes by managing procurement, timing, change control, and contingency planning. As climate impacts - such as weather-related delays, supply chain disruptions, and regulatory changes - become more frequent and consequential, controlling those factors is increasingly important.

That’s why CAFA is proud to welcome The Controls & Skills Authority (CaSA) as a new member. CaSA is the professional authority for all project controls disciplines - including planning, cost estimating, cost engineering, risk, and performance metrics - and represents a community of practitioners across the industry.

CaSA represents over 3,000 professionals and organisations working across sectors to uphold standards in delivery, accountability, and commercial performance. Its members span global firms and SMEs, offering the technical and commercial lens often underrepresented in broader climate forums .

While climate-related decision-making is not yet a standard part of current project controls practice, the role is evolving. As cost structures, materials availability, and regulatory environments shift due to climate pressures, project controls professionals are likely to take on new responsibilities in helping organisations align financial planning with resilience and sustainability goals - they can be a crucial ally in reducing emissions, producing more sustainably, and considering climate risk.

Collaborating for climate action

CaSA’s membership reflects the growing importance of integrating sustainability into the disciplines of project control, from cost and risk to planning and commercial strategy. By joining CAFA, CaSA is taking early steps toward building a community of practice around cost, carbon, and net zero, responding to rising interest from members and leadership. As professional recognition in this space increases, CaSA is well positioned to embed climate action into the standards, skills, and governance that shape project delivery across sectors.

“We are absolutely delighted to become a member of Climate Action for Associations. This partnership aligns perfectly with our commitment to building a more sustainable and resilient future through skills, innovation, and responsible governance. Joining this forward-thinking community marks an exciting step in accelerating our climate leadership and driving meaningful change across our sector.”Dawn Rossell, National Operations Manager at The Controls & Skills Authority
