Sealing The Deal: BASA Joins CAFA

ree

London, UK - July 17, 2025 - Climate Action for Associations (CAFA) is delighted to welcome BASA, the UK’s leading trade association for the adhesives and sealants industry, in CAFA’s growing global network. Officially founded in 1983, BASA represents the UK and Ireland’s adhesives and sealants industry, from manufacturers and suppliers to technical experts, supporting practical improvements in compliance, safety, efficiency, and sustainability.

Why this partnership matters

Adhesives and sealants are integral across countless industries including construction, automotive, aerospace, packaging, consumer adhesives and more, yet their environmental and regulatory impacts are often overlooked. BASA’s members produce solutions that enable lightweight construction, efficient manufacturing, and product durability; however, the sector also faces significant pressures around solvent use, emissions, and recyclability.

BASA’s strength lies in spanning a significant proportion of the UK's material producers and suppliers, creating an opportunity for knowledge sharing and collaborative progress towards system-wide improvements in areas like energy efficiency, raw materials emissions, waste minimisation, and circularity.

Through workshops around carbon emissions and contributions to Feica's work on Environmental Product Declarations for the adhesives sector, BASA actively supports members with compliance guidance and regulatory monitoring - CAFA is truly looking forward to working with BASA on complementary areas.

Collaborating for climate action

Partnering with CAFA enables BASA to embed adhesives and sealants sector insight into broader climate strategies and vice-versa - fostering integration of climate imperatives and risks into the industry's strategy and activities. BASA brings practical sector knowledge on greener formulations, process optimisation, compliance pathways, and end-of-life considerations - while CAFA brings connections to adjacent and often overlapping industries, as well as extensive net zero expertise, to ensure a productive collaboration in reducing emissions in the adhesives & sealants sector.

“BASA is delighted to be joining Climate Action for Associations (CAFA). BASA is committed to supporting our members on their journey to net zero, and this partnership gives us access to valuable tools and insight to help make that happen. Together with CAFA, we can build a more sustainable future for our industry." Lorna Williams, CEO at BASA
