Science at the Heart of Climate Action: IES Joins CAFA

ree

London, UK - December 2, 2025 - Climate Action for Associations (CAFA) is delighted to welcome the Institution of Environmental Sciences (IES) to our Collective. The IES is the global professional membership body for environmental scientists. It brings together a diverse network of professionals, at all stages of their education and career, who are united around the mission to work with speed, vision and expertise to solve the world’s most pressing environmental challenges. They champion interdisciplinarity and provide support via professional registration, member networks and sector-wide influence.

Why this partnership matters

The environmental science community faces urgent and complex issues, from climate change and biodiversity loss to pollution and systemic risk. The IES is already a leading voice in these areas, for example through their partnership on interdisciplinary work with the ACCESS Network which brings together environmental and social scientists. By joining CAFA, the IES will be able to amplify its impact, share insights from the science community, and help strengthen the climate leadership of membership organisations operating across sectors.

Collaborating for climate action

Through this collaboration, CAFA will provide IES with access to new peer-networks, practical tools and cross-disciplinary insights. We will work together to support membership organisations in embedding sustainability governance, measuring and reducing emissions, and developing communication strategies grounded in environmental science. For the IES, this partnership opens up the opportunity to bring its scientific and professional expertise into broader association networks and accelerate climate-action across the membership body ecosystem.

We look forward to working together with the IES to elevate the role of environmental science within the sustainability agendas of associations and help drive meaningful progress.

“The Institution of Environmental Sciences (the IES) unites this interdisciplinary field around a shared goal: to work with speed, vision and expertise to solve the world’s most pressing environmental challenges, together. As the global professional membership body for environmental scientists, we support a diverse network of professionals worldwide – at every stage of their education and careers – to connect, develop, progress and inspire”.
