Sustainability in Transit: BIFA Joins the CAFA Collective

ree

London, UK - September 4, 2025 - Climate Action for Associations (CAFA) is delighted to welcome the British International Freight Association (BIFA) as a new member of the CAFA Collective. BIFA is the UK trade association for companies engaged in the international movement of freight across all modes, air, road, rail and sea, supporting members with representation, standards and training across a complex, multimodal logistics landscape.

Why this partnership matters

By joining CAFA, BIFA can accelerate this work with practical guidance, tools and peer connections tailored to freight forwarders’ realities: introducing frameworks like SBTi, helping members understand and prioritise Scope 3 impacts, and shaping clear, credible materials and training for sustainable logistics. This complements BIFA’s own training and new sustainability guides, enabling consistent messaging and progress across the community.

Collaborating for climate action

BIFA will develop member-facing resources (introductory training, guides and templates). CAFA is eager to support BIFA with these endeavours as well as with policy engagement, and to work with the association on industry hot topics and key transition points such as financing and infrastructure, EV/heavy-vehicle adoption, grants and subsidies, and low-emissions infrastructure for commercial freight. Together we'll help members navigate the landscape of modal choices and emissions trade-offs, recognising aviation’s hard-to-abate profile, the role of rail and shipping, and the need for location-specific solutions.

"The British International Freight Association (BIFA) is delighted to become a new member of CAFA. As the leading trade association for UK freight forwarders, BIFA represents businesses handling a significant share of the country’s international trade. Our decision to join reflects a strong commitment to supporting members on their journey to decarbonisation. Together, we will provide practical guidance, share best practices, and assist BIFA members in accelerating the transition to more sustainable freight and logistics." Jamie Mckean, Policy Advisor at BIFA
