European Parliament Approves Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, Setting Mandatory Obligations for Companies

Lawmakers in the European Parliament have voted to adopt the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) with a vote of 374 to 235. This legislation sets mandatory obligations for companies to address their negative impacts on human rights and the environment. The revised CSDDD, which reduces the number of companies covered by the law and extends the implementation timeline, awaits formal approval by the Council before it can become law. This development marks a significant step forward in corporate sustainability and accountability within the EU.
